Experimetal surgery XIV.

Postoperative care in experimental surgery is limited by the environment in which the animals are held. Basic postoperative care includes maintaining the airway patency by leaving the tracheal tube in until complete recovery from the anesthesia, and it also comprises analgesia, which leads to early mobilisation of the animal.

Experimetal surgery XIII.

Experimetal surgery XIII.

Surgery starts with a skin incision. The incision should always be placed in the direction of the grain of the skin. The correct localisation of the wound is also important for the experimental animal because the surrounding tissues are damaged less. The names of the approaches are derived from the approached cavities, for example, craniotomy, thoracotomy and laparotomy.
